Kiki Musampa has missed out on a deal at Sunderland.

The Journal says the experienced midfielder has spent recent weeks training in the North-East and last week featured in a reserve-team match against Liverpool.

Yet Musampa - who will not be named in the second string squad for tonight's home game against Bolton - was last night understood to have left the club and is not expected to return.
