Murphy delighted with Fulham move

Former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy is delighted with his move to Fulham.

"I first heard about the move late in the day, on the same day it got done" he told fulhamfc.com. "I got a phone call and came down to the training ground pretty quick. I had a chat with the Gaffer which went very well - I was very impressed by him and what he had to say.

"The last 12 months at Spurs didn't go as well as I expected and I'm at the stage of my career where I'm desperate to be playing again so to do that at a good club like Fulham is great for me.

"The Manager was straight with me. Obviously as a footballer you want to know where the Manager thinks you can play and what your qualities are. He made me aware that he knows what I'm capable of, the position he wanted me to fill and what players I would be competing with to get in the team.

"The facilities here are excellent and from an outside point of view, I'd already seen the type of player the Manager was bringing to Fulham. There are a lot of good young players here and hopefully I can add a bit of experience to the blend. I spoke to Paul Konchesky about the place and he had nothing but good things to say - that helped as well. I've also played with Alexey Smertin who was a bit of a character at Charlton and Tony Warner at Liverpool.

"I'm looking forward to the future, physically I'm fine and I've been very fortunate with injuries. I'm aware of what I'm good and not so good at, now I'm looking forward to putting the shirt on."
