David Moyes stands by the way he handled the players he inherited at Manchester United.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has hammered Moyes' time in charge at Old Trafford.
But Moyes has now responded by insisting he had to make his own mark at the club.
“Well I look at it in many ways, they're very experienced players," Moyes told BBC Sport Scotland.
“They'll have seen how good managers work so they'll see it differently.
“But I had to put my stamp on Manchester United.
“But the big thing about Manchester United was it was never going to be revolution, it was evolution.
“It was going to take time, it couldn't be a quick change because they had players who were getting a bit older and would have to be turned around.
“Ultimately my job was to win games and I didn't win enough games."
