Moyes proud to cap year with West Ham win at Arsenal

West Ham United manager David Moyes celebrated his four years in charge of the club.

The Hammers won a trophy this year, securing the Europa Conference League title.

While their Premier League form was not the best last term, Moyes acknowledges how far they have come since he first took over.

After victory at Arsenal, he told club media: “When I came back four years ago the job was to make sure we didn't get relegated.

“I'm still thrilled that I didn't get the team relegated, and now you think, 'Well, what have we done in the last three years or so?'

“And I think we've made great strides. Look, we probably don't have the finances that lots of other clubs have got, where they can buy at the top end.

“We have to try to make the most of it and I think we've done a really good job. The new signings have come in, we had to sell Declan and we keep evolving and trying to get better.

“I think we do, I think we're beginning to show some really good signs of how quickly we can counter-attack again.

“We're showing brilliant signs of how we can defend and we've got two or three stunningly good players who are making the difference in a lot of games."
