Everton boss David Moyes whilst flattered with the Toffees being compared to Manchester United is realistic enough to know that such views are rather optimistic. The Merseysiders are a side renowned for their ability to produce home-grown talent which is an approach that has served United well down the years, with a glittering era in the club's history built around academy graduates.
But Moyes, who has been touted as a potential successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, appreciates that he has a long way to go before he can claim to stand alongside United and their legendary boss.
He said: "If people are saying that, that's great, but I would say they have about 250,000 more trophies than we have and so I can't see the comparison in truth.
"If other people see it, that's great because that shows we are making progress.
"I really hope that someday we will be able to compete and challenge them."
