Mourinho would land £30m if Chelsea happen to wield the axe

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho would be in for a huge pay day if Chelsea were to sack him this season.

The pressure is beginning to mount on Mourinho at Stamford Bridge after the Premier League Champions' awful start to the season which reached a new low with the 3-1 defeat to Southampton at home on Saturday.

However, the terms of Mourinho's lucrative deal would mean that he would be entitled to £30million in compensation if the Blues were to release him prematurely.

The initial deal ties Mourinho to Chelsea until 2019, but doubts have risen with the Blues having produced worst Premier League start ever, which sees them sitting 16th on the league table.

Despite issuing a statement backing the Portuguese coach, rumours of Chelsea owner being unhappy with Mourinho continue and speculation is rife as to whether the manager will remain in charge for the rest of the season, particularly if the negative results in West London continue.
