Wayne Rooney is set to be dropped for Manchester United's next Premier League game.
The Sun is reporting that Jose Mourinho is set to axe the Red Devils captain following a couple of subpar performances.
Rooney struggled in Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Watford, after being left out of the midweek Europa League loss to Feyenoord, following a below par showing in the derby reverse to Manchester City last weekend.
Mourinho is unlikely to use Rooney in Wednesday night's EFL Cup meeting with League One side Northampton Town and is expected to leave him out of the weekend's home league clash with reigning champions Leicester City.
It is also believed that 99% of fans in a poll on Red Issue Sanctuary want Rooney dropped, while some even want him to retire.
