Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Michael Carrick that he wants him to sign a new Manchester United contract.
A report in the Daily Mail suggests that the Portuguese has informed the veteran midfielder he wants to keep him around for at least the 2016/17 season.
Carrick is out of contract this summer but it is believed that he will sign a one-year extension which will see his decade-long association with the Red Devils continue.
The 34-year-old's career at Old Trafford had reportedly been clouded during the uncertainty of the the managerial situation but with Louis van Gaal out the door, the five-time Premier League winner will team up with Mourinho in a bid to return the famous club to former glories.
