Liverpool have met the buyout clause of Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Corriere dello Sport says Liverpool have submitted a bid to sign Pellegrini.
Pellegrini, 24, enjoyed an excellent season with 11 goals and nine assists in all competitions for his boyhood club.
Newly-appointed Roma boss Jose Mourinho will be desperate to keep hold of the Italy international but Liverpool have submitted a £25.8million bid to activate Pellegrini's release clause.
The report claims Anfield chiefs view Pellegrini as a long-term replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
