Mourinho: Don't claim I was blasting Man Utd board...

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists he was not being critical of his board when hitting out at Manchester City's spending earlier this week.

Mourinho complained he'd need another £300m to match City.

"I ask you, please, don't misinterpret my words," Mourinho said. "Don't say my club doesn't support or doesn't want to spend. Two years my club paid lot of money for Paul [Pogba], last summer paid a lot of money for Lukaku, I'm pretty sure next year is going to pay a lot of money for one player.

"But we are doing these things with some balance because it's the profile of the club. We do it with some balance."

"Sometimes you take the thing to the side and say the club doesn't support. No. You think the club can put here £600m and buy six players for £100m each? The club cannot do that. I cannot expect the club to do that.

"So it's not critical, and you can see how the market is, especially with the top teams."
