Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says the addition of Cesc Fabregas has lifted his team up a level.

He insists Fabregas will do just that after his £30m move from Barcelona, starting tonight at Burnley.

Mourinho, who insists Chelsea are genuine title contenders this season, said: "Cesc is the kind of player that we didn't have.

"In midfield, we had a box to box player, a runner, a stable player. We never had this kind of football brain, so that has improved."
