Former Spartak Moscow star Alexander Mostovoi is sorry Willian rejected their interest.

Willian is signing a new deal with Fulham, despite interest from the Russians.

Mostovoi told Futbol.ru: "Willian is 34 years old. There is nothing wrong with that, but he will not continue his career at Spartak. You can ignore this news.

"But they tried to sign him, I think. It certainly wouldn't ruin the picture. He would even improve it. There is an example of (Victor) Moses. Everyone was skeptical about his transfer, but he turned out to be one of the best players in Spartak.

"Willian would also be one of the best, I think. Like Promes. For the RPL, Willian is a very high level player. Especially in recent seasons he played in the Premier League. So he would definitely help Spartak."
