More injury woes for Southampton striker Rodriguez

Southampton's Jay Rodriguez could be set for time on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old striker missed 12 months of football after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in April 2014 and has not played for the Saints since mid-October.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that Rodriguez may require surgery on the foot problem that has plagued him in recent times which could have him out of action for another lengthy stint.

"Jay [Rodriguez] is not good," Koeman said ahead of the weekend's clash with Stoke City.

"It's now a long time and we have to make a really tough decision how we treat it.

"Maybe it will be a surgery next week. Still his feet is a problem, it gives a lot of pain. We did everything and now, the final call, maybe it will be surgery next week."

Koeman added: "We have to wait and first make that tough decision and then of course we will know something more about how long he will be out."
