Montreal Impact striker Marco Di Vaio has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 13.

Montreal Impact striker Marco Di Vaio has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 13.

The Italian veteran netted a hat-trick as the Impact defeated Philadelphia Union 5-3 on the weekend to become the first Impact player to land the weekly award this season.

Former Juventus, Valencia and Bologna striker Di Vaio scored in the second, 28th and 32nd minutes of the clash as the Eastern Conference’s second-placed Montreal grabbed their second win on the row.

Di Vaio has now scored nine goals for the season, tying him with Union youngster Jack McInerney on top of the league’s Golden Boot charts.
