Monterrey president José Antonio Noriega has admitted interest in Real Betis midfielder Sergio Canales.

Noriega has confirmed talks are underway to sign the midfielder.

"They are well aware...," said Noriega. "Part of the negotiation is missing and it is only one of the names. I would not like the dialogue to be parked in a name because really we have three or four more open negotiations and they are going very well.

"A while ago I commented that we are optimistic that we are close to being able to announce something that is important, but I would not name the reinforcement yet."
