Monterrey defender Jose Maria Basanta is keen on a move to Fiorentina.
The 30 year-old is close to completing his move to Florence.
"I want to clarify that nothing is yet confirmed for my move to Fiorentina, but I thank people for their support," wrote Basanta in Italian and then Spanish on his Twitter account.
"I have a contract until 2015 with Monterrey, but am in negotiations over the idea of moving to Europe and becoming part of the Italian club Fiorentina."
