Monk upset with Swansea despite friendly win

Swansea City boss Garry Monk was unhappy with their performance in the friendly win over 1860 Munich.

The Swans ended their two-match German tour with a 2-1 victory over the second-tier outfit at Grunwalder Stadium, with Jack Cork and Bafetimbi Gomis grabbing the goals.

Monk told Wales Online: “We were pretty poor to be honest with you. We were much, much better on Wednesday against Borussia Monchengladbach if I am honest.

“But I do not want to knock the players, they have had a hard couple of weeks in real punishing heat, because even in Swansea we were in the middle of a brief heatwave.

“We will always take a positive result but I cannot help but be disappointed in terms of the standards I set.

“But they have all had minutes on the pitch and, at this stage, it is not all about performances. That sharpness will come over the next few weeks.

“It has been tough for them but I am happy with them and they will only get better."
