Monk tells Sheffield Wednesday players after Brighton shock: That's the courage we want

Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk was delighted with their 1-0 FA Cup shock defeat of Brighton.

Adam Reach's deflected strike midway through the second half sealed a 1-0 win for the Championship outfit.

Monk said, "We did very well. I thought it was a fantastic performance coming away to a Premier League side, especially after the week we have had.

"We had let ourselves down [with three successive defeats] but we showed the response we wanted and we deserved to win the game, so we have to be happy with that. This courage and attitude is what I wanted to see. We want a competitive squad and people to take their opportunities and this was a performance to be proud of.

"The FA Cup is such a great competition; I didn't make changes for the sake of it - they were deserved changes after the last week. I'm delighted that we're in the next round but I would like a home tie."
