MLS WRAP - Week 27: Keane and Magee give LA Galaxy another win

LA Galaxy did their 2011 MLS Supporters' Shield chances no harm with a 3-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps in Week 27 action on the weekend. Mike Magee opened the scoring for last season's best performed regular season team in the 40th minute with a neat finish from a perfect Robbie Keane pass from the left side of the penalty area.

Just after the hour-mark, it was 2-0 when Keane powered home a stooping header from Bryan Jordan's cross from the right before Magee wrapped up proceedings with an inch-perfect header from another clinical Jordan pass 15 minutes from time.

The win allowed the Galaxy to go seven points clear of second-placed Seattle Sounders with five matches remaining prior to the play-offs and extended their recent run to four wins in five matches.

Elsewhere in MLS, Portland Timbers cruised past New England Revolution 3-0, Danny Koevermans scored twice as Toronto FC beat Colorado Rapids 2-1, Juan Pablo Angel scored a goal for each team has his Chivas USA lost 3-2 at Chicago Fire, Philadelphia Union got the better of Columbus Crew to win 1-0 as Houston Dynamo came from behind to record a 2-1 victory San Jose Earthquakes.

In Texas, New York Red Bulls kept their play-offs hopes alive with a 1-0 win over FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake moved third in the West with a 1-0 home victory over Sporting Kansas City and Seattle won 3-0 over DC United thanks to an Alvaro Fernandez double.
