Major League Soccer is set to officially announce that David Beckham will exercise his option to move into ownership of a franchise.
The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy star has taken a step closer to becoming an owner of a MLS club as his expansion plans in Miami move nearer to becoming a reality.
An announcement is expected to be made on Wednesday: "Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber and David Beckham will make a significant announcement impacting the Miami community. They will be joined by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez."
Beckham, along with his investment group, and MLS Commissioner Don Garber will be present in Miami on Tuesday and Wednesday to meet local community leaders and also visit youth soccer clubs.
It is also believed that plans for a privately-funded 25,000-capacity soccer-specific stadium on the PortMiami waterfront are underway.
