MLS champions Real Salt Lake return home
2009 MLS Cup winners Real Salt Lake have returned home to celebrate their win with the fans.
After going a goal down to the LA Galaxy at Seattle’s Qwest Field yesterday, RSL fought back to grab an equaliser through Robbie Findley before winning 5-4 in penalties to take out the title this season.
Now they are back home, the win is beginning to sink in for all the players who were treated like royalty at Salt Lake International Airport.
"This is just great," said Clint Mathis. "This is something you don't see in America for soccer at all."
"Phenomenal," said RSL coach Jason Kreis."It feels very good to finally give something back.”
About 400 fans turned up at the airport to congratulate the team and get photos and autographs from their heroes and share in the glory with the newly crowned champions of Major League Soccer.

A deserved win for Salt Lake. Now, if Don could only stop being a cheap ***** and agree to a much-improved collective bargaining agreement. It's funny, of the things, all American professional sports leagues are being run as a socialist enterprise...
Awesome game! Underdogs bring home the cup for Utah!!! Ahh ya!
