Mkhitaryan happy with 'little Dortmund' inside Arsenal

Arsenal ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ready to help new manager Unai Emery to bring success to the club.

Mkhitaryan admits he joined Arsenal from Manchester United expecting Arsene Wenger to stay.

He said, “I am sure that the new season is going to be a good one for me and for Arsenal.

“I know it will be easier because I am starting the season with this team and with the new manager I will understand more of what he is asking and the new playing style he wants to bring to Arsenal.

“Obviously I had no idea when I signed that that the manager was going to change in the summer.

“It's a shame to see Arsene Wenger leaving the club but everything happens very quickly in football and you have to move forward.

“It's too early to say how we are going to play under Unai Emery, but Arsenal knew that he was going to play offensive football and that is why they signed him."

Mkhitaryan was persuaded to move to Arsenal by head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who he knew from their time together at Dortmund.

And they have since been joined at the Emirates by fellow Dortmund old boys Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

He says: “I am in touch with all of my old team-mates from Dortmund, from Shakhtar and from Manchester United.

“Of course I was messaging Aubameyang and Sokratis when I heard they had the chance to come to Arsenal because I knew they would fit in well.

“But then again, I wasn't the guy who had to pay for them."
