Milner: Man City need to make habit of winning trophies

James Milner believes Manchester City have to make it a prerequisite to win trophies every single season.

28-year old midfielder Milner has helped the Eastlands outfit lift two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and a Community Shield since 2011 but insists that it has to become a habit for the club to be counted as truly successful.

"It's very difficult to defend a title and we discovered that last time as well (after winning in 2012)," he told the club's official website ahead of Saturday's trip to Hull City.

"Even before winning the league, we were a major scalp for clubs.

"We have to be on the top of our game every week because if we're not, we're going to get turned over.

"Winning two trophies last year was great but doing that is a habit clubs get into. That's what we need to start doing - winning trophies year on year and hopefully, we can do that.

"We're in every competition to win it. Last year, we were in the hunt for everything."

City ended up winning the Premier League title by two points, out-lasting second-placed Liverpool, as well as clinching the Capital One Cup with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Sunderland at Wembley.
