Mijatovic blasts Hazard for skipping final Real Madrid game: Who pays you?

Former Real Madrid chief Pedja Mijatovic has taken fresh aim at Eden Hazard.

The former Chelsea captain missed Real Madrid's final game of the season yesterday for victory against Villarreal. Ultimately, Hazard's absence didn't matter as Atletico Madrid's victory over Real Valladolid saw them win the LaLiga title on Saturday. Atleti finished two points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the LaLiga table.

Despite how the final round played out, Mijatovic was still upset and he accused Hazard of putting Belgium's Euros campaign ahead of his club.

He told Cadena SER via TMW: "Hazard? It is already quite worrying that he is not part of the game that decides the whole season.

"Does he think that the European Championship with Belgium is more important than La Liga? But he forgets that who pays him is Real Madrid."

Real Madrid signed Hazard from Chelsea in 2019 for €120m and the Belgium captain has struggled with injury ever since. This season, 30 year-old Hazard has managed just 21 appearances, scoring four goals and producing just one assist.

Mijatovic spent three years with Real Madrid, between 1996-99, leading the line before returning to the club after retirement as sporting director in 2006 for three seasons.
