Merrick: Langerak won't let down Melbourne Victory

The hero of Victory's Pre-Season Cup win, Michael Theoklitos, has been ruled out with an ankle injury which he sustained at training, making way for the Queensland-born Langerak.

The young keeper's only other A-League start was a 2-2 draw against Sydney in the final round of season 2007/2008. He also made two appearances in the pre-season and coach Ernie Merrick believes he is the right man for the job.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Merrick said, "He's never let us down when we've used him.

"He's played under pressure and handled it well. He's a good young player and he will be fine."

Victorian Premier League player Tommi Tomich has been brought in as back-up.

Tomich played ten A-League games for Perth Glory as a replacement keeper in 2006.
