Mental toughness has us in a strong position - Celtic's Wilson

Celtic defender Mark Wilson feels the improvement of the mental toughness of the club's players has them in a much better position to take the Scottish Premier League title this season.

The Bhoys are currently eight points clear of title rivals Rangers following the 3-0 win at Parkhead on Sunday and Wilson puts it down to the mental application the players in green and white now have.

He said that was one of the main things he noticed in Rangers' back-to-back title wins and is delighted that the Celtic squad now has the capacity to match their Glasgow adversaries.

"I don't think we had that mental toughness last season or earlier this season when we lost to Rangers at home," Wilson said.

"It's something Rangers have had and now you've got to say we've got it in spades.

"We have a team packed with winners, the atmosphere is terrific and we now go into these games confident we'll win.

"That shines through in the way we play."

Celtic and Rangers again meet next week (Wednesday, March 2) in the fifth round replay of the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park.
