Jose Luis Mendilibar has penned an open letter to Sevilla fans after his dismissal.

Mendilibar was sacked by Sevilla on Monday.

He wrote: "The time spent with you was short but we agree that it was extraordinarily intense. I would not like to say goodbye without first of all thanking the managers who decided in March to give me the opportunity to lead this great club.

"Then I thank all the workers and employees of the club who have made everyday life in the city of sport very easy. The staff, for their work and attention. The players, who with their work and commitment have been the main protagonists of the important goals that we have managed to achieve in recent months. And above all to those Sevilla fans, who from the first moment until today have shown me all their support and all their affection and without their passion and encouragement it would have been impossible to achieve what I achieved.

"I leave many friends in the club and I leave friends in a Seville that I will always consider as my home. I am also proud, after the night in Budapest, to have become a small part of the history of this great club.

"All that remains for me is to wish the best future to Sevilla, which I will always carry in my heart."
