Melbourne Victory to welcome back striker Kruse

Robbie Kruse is expected to return from injury for the Melbourne Victory this weekend. The 21-year old striker has missed the past few matches with a calf injury but should return to the starting line-up for just the second time this season when they take on the Newcastle Jets according to assistant coach Aaron Healey.

''Robbie Kruse is looking good. I would probably say we will start him. We won't make the call on him until Friday, we will give him one more session and see how he pulls up," Healey said. "Robbie trained today and did reasonably well but we will see how he goes on Friday.

As for other injury worries, Healey said that touch-and-go players like Grant Brebner and Roddy Vargas would be given every chance.

"Grant Brebner will get a fitness test tomorrow,'' he added.

''Roddy Vargas is a definite, he got a fairly bad tackle from behind but it's not as bad as first thought. We still need to improve our attacking play and the more often we can put out Ricardinho, Robbie Kruse, Mate Dugandzic, Carlos Hernandez, more of those guys together in a sequence of games the more understanding they will get and the goals hopefully will come.''
