Pepe Mel is determined to remain at the helm at West Bromwich Albion so he can continue to improve the club.
The Spaniard replaced Steve Clarke in January and has since been able to guide the Baggies to safety with two fixtures remaining.
Mel's contract with Albion was an 18-month deal, with a six-month get-out clause for the club, but he wants to stake his claim on the role and make massive improvements in 2014/15 and beyond.
"The most important thing was to get the team out of trouble. My ambition when I first came was that West Brom would be in the Premier League come May 12 - so I have achieved that," he said.
"Now I have a different one, I want to carry on improving the club. I need to listen to what the chairman has to say and I want to know what he has in mind for the future of this club, what his plans are.
"But I'm also an ambitious person and I want to be able to put forward my own arguments to take this club forward. If I'm the West Brom manager next season, everything will have to be done hand-in-hand, together.
"If I am the manager to move this club forward then certain talks will be had with certain players. It is important for every single player to know who the boss of this club is."
