Mejia scores as Man Utd and Arsenal U21 play out draw

Manchester United and Arsenal U21s drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on Friday night.

Both goals came in the first half, with Arsenal forward Khayon Edwards handing the visitors the lead just after the 20 minute mark.

United goalkeeper Elyh Harrison was caught dithering in possession by Edwards before he struck from close range.

The hosts, however, replied almost immediately, with Dan Gore's surging run and pass handing Mateo Mejia a chance to volley home to bring the scores level.

After halftime, openings at both ends of the pitch were rare, with Arsenal winger Charles Sagoe Jr going closest when he struck the post before United's Ethan Williams saw a well-struck effort parried for United.

Despite the best efforts of both sides, the resilience of the two defences was evident and the spoils were shared.
