Burnley captain Ben Mee insists they can get a result at Manchester United.

Burnley sit 18th in the table, with four games in hand before the trip to United, over Newcastle United and Norwich City, who both sit below the Clarets.

And Mee believes there's a good incentive to now start climbing the table and getting points on board.

“It's been frustrating for all of us, for everyone involved and for the fans as well, especially at this time of year," he told the club's website.

“We were prepared for all of them games, obviously late notice for the first couple, but for Boxing Day there was a bit more notice.

“Our squad is in a good place at the minute, so we were slightly disappointed in those games getting called off.

“There all going to have to be rearranged now and it's going to be a busy schedule for us in the new year.

“You want points on the board, you don't want games in hand, but seeing the teams around us not really moving much, it gives us a good incentive to go and get some points and move up the table."

The Clarets head to Old Trafford having lost just once in their last five visits, including a memorable 2-0 win over the Red Devils in January 2020, after two 2-2 draws in consecutive seasons before that.

And Mee says there are plenty of good memories from over the years and the side are hoping for more of the same this season.

“I even thought in April this year that we gave a good performance despite going on to lose late on.

“We're confident, we'll look to go there and disrupt them and get at them for sure.

“There's some world class players there, they're a good side and can be very dangerous.

“But there's a chance for us to go there and get something and begin climbing up the table."
