Meara signs fresh contract with NYRB

New York Red Bull have secured the services of goalkeeper Ryan Meara to a new contract.

The 22-year old local product has re-signed with the Red Bulls on a deal worth a lot more than the $40,000 league minimum he earned in 2012.

"Ryan, a local boy, has impressed our coaching staff and has the potential to be a top goalkeeper," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh.

"He is recovering well from his injury problem and should be fully fit to join the first team squad in preseason training. We are delighted to sign him on a new contract."

Meara, who made 18 appearances for the Red Bulls during his debut season, set the MLS shutout record earlier this year for a rookie goalkeeper when he did not concede a goal for 321 minutes as the Red Bulls won five matches in a row from April 28 to May 19.
