McInnes targets restoring confidence to Bristol City players

Derek McInnes was officially unveiled as the new Bristol City boss on Thursday and immediately highlighted a lack of confidence as one reason for the Robins slump to the foot of the Championship table. But the former St Johnstone manager will not take bad luck as a reason for City claiming just six points from 12 outings.

"You could look at different aspects of it - being unfortunate here and there - but you get to a stage when you have to try and take that unfortunate element out of any game," said McInnes.

"You have a way of working and the percentages get better for certain things. There's certainly enough players in the squad, we've just got to make sure there's the right balance and possibly, having evaluated the squad in the next couple of weeks, have a few additions to help make things better. We'll certainly look at that in the next couple of weeks.

"I've managed to watch a couple of DVDs of games and had a couple of reports done over the last few weeks and I think what's probably clear is they're lacking a wee bit of confidence."
