McCoist heaps praise on Rangers after record-breaking 19th-straight win

Rangers recorded their 19th-straight victory on Tuesday night when they hammered Forfar Athletic 6-1 in Scotland's League One.

Nicky Clark netted four goals as the Ibrox outfit produced a new post-war record which is their best run of consecutive wins in 114 years.

Of the 19 wins, 14 of which have come in the league, manager Ally McCoist said: "It's a fantastic achievement for the players. They can be very proud of that run at the moment but it has to continue on Saturday against Ayr United.

"People will look at the opposition and say this, that and the next thing.

"But, as we have seen this year in the cup competitions, the teams in the lower leagues are more than capable of winning games against teams with supposedly better squads.

"It's a great achievement and the boys will get the credit they deserve from ourselves and that's all that matters really."
