McArthur happy to see Portsmouth chasing Hamiton pal McCarthy

James McArthur is happy to see Hamilton teammate James McCarthy attracting offers from Portsmouth.

"I would say the situation with James gives us a boost and gives James a boost, to know that teams are watching him and taking notice of what he's doing here," McArthur told The Daily Record.

"He's just happy the clubs are now finally making bids for him instead of there constantly being speculation. I'm sure that will kick him on even further.

"You saw on Saturday against Kilmarnock what he can do when he won the game almost single-handed with two goals and he did the same against Motherwell earlier in the season.

"He is just sheer class; he's got bags and bags of ability, all the talent in the world.

"If nothing major goes wrong, James is going to move on to bigger and better things and if it happens at the end of the season then so be it.

"I've got mixed emotions because as a team-mate I want to keep playing with James but as a friend I'd like him to play the highest level possible.

"It's difficult to say he'll definitely go on and do well in The Premier League in England because no disrespect to The SPL, there's a massive, massive step up there."
