Mayweather fan Delph grew up idolising Gerrard, Keane and Zidane

Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph revealed some of his keen interests in a recent interview on the club's official website.

The 25-year old admits he closely watched Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard when growing up and is also a big admirer of a couple of other famous midfielders.

"I had a few when I was growing up," said Delph when asked about his idols.

"I was a big fan of Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane and I also liked Zinedine Zidane."

Delph was also asked which current day sports stars he watches to which he replied: "I'm a big boxing fan so I'd have to say Floyd Mayweather."

The former Leeds United young gun also recalled the very first World Cup he cast his eye over as an eight-year old.

"That would have been the 1998 World Cup in France although the first tournament I can remember watching was Euro 96," he added.
