Matt Jackson rejoins Wolves staff

Matt Jackson has returned to Wolves to rejoin the backroom staff.

Jackson has spent time with Swiss partners Grasshoppers and is now back as 'head of professional football development'.

Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs told the club's website: “Matt is someone I was sad to lose. He's a real confidant of mine and we were incredibly close. It's great to have him back and he'll work closely with me and the other guys we have on the senior management team. There's a group of five and we try to drive everything forward, and he'll come back into it.

“His role is an interesting one and a very important one for me and the football club. He was in charge of loans before and he'll still oversee that, but he'll also be linked with recruitment from our under-21s. It's tying all that side together, so our recruitment tools aren't purely outward recruitment, but also internal, through loans and our under-21s, so the pathway's there for players who deserve it.

“He's played at the highest level which is always useful for me to have that perspective, he knows what it's like to cross the white line at a high level. It's great to have him back, nothing really changes to what he did before, he just has more of an overarching influence on different departments."
