Alessandro Matri was delighted with his brace on debut in Fiorentina's win at Catania.
The striker joined the Viola from AC Milan last week.
Matri said: "Over six months I struggled to settle into Milan's tactics and there were various problems at the club. I am 29 years old and still a bit young to be on the bench.
"Why did I choose Fiorentina? They had the Number 32 free! There were other options, but this team plays in a very attacking way and there are many fascinating elements here."
