Manchester United have signed Espanyol prospect Mateo Mejia without any sort of negotiations.

Aragondigital.es reports United have paid the required €100,000 to ferry the 16 year-old forward to England - so cutting Espanyol out of the process.

The situation has left Espanyol furious, with United failing to make any contact with the LaLiga club about their plans.

With Mejia still on amateur forms, Spanish Liga law allowed United to nick away the teen for the set fee. If the youngster had been targeted by another Spanish club, then compensation would have had to be negotiated.

Zaragoza were left stunned by United raid, convinced before Mejia's decision that he wished to continue with them next season.
