Reading midfielder Marek Matejovsky remains confident the Royals can steer clear of relegation danger.

Steve Coppell's side slipped into the bottom three after a shocking run of eight successive defeats, before recording back-to-back victories against Middlesbrough and Manchester City.

Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, where Matejovsky silenced the home crowd with a stunning opener, leaves them in 14th place, three points away from the drop zone.

And the Czech playmaker told CTK: "Everyone here is determined to avoid relegation.

"What I have managed to spot here is that the team is of a quality that should be enough to stay in the Premier League.

"Now we are going to play two home games and we would like to get as many points as possible out of them."
