Roberto Martinez will make the future of Wigan Athletic winger Antonio Valencia his first decision as new manager.
The Sun says the Spaniard, 35, will sign a three-year deal to succeed Steve Bruce as soon as Latics owner Dave Whelan returns from holiday this week.
And he must get straight to work on establishing where £16million-rated winger Valencia, 23, will be playing next term.
Manchester United and Real Madrid are both interested in the Ecuador international - but Wigan sources denied they had received any bids from the pair.
Martinez knows there is no chance of keeping Valencia but will want the cash to spend on rebuilding his squad.
