Roberto Martinez was full of praise for his Everton side after they beat Arsenal 3-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Toffees went within a point of the fourth-placed Gunners courtesy of a 14th-minute effort from Steven Naismith and a powerful strike from Romelu Lukaku 20 minutes later prior to Mikel Arteta's second-half own-goal.
After the match, Martinez was asked if his Everton team reminded him of an Arsenal side of the past, which he accepted as a nice tribute, but preferred to share the triumph with his attentive group of players.
"I think you want to be yourselves but it is an incredible compliment," the Toffees boss told Sky Sports.
"We will keep working hard to try and fulfil our potential. The competition we have we have for places and the attitude of the players is incredible."
Of the game itself, Martinez added: "We had to be perfect in every aspect of the game. I thought we were compact, defended really well, and I thought the tactical awareness of the players was magnificent.
"I thought the way we broke on the counter-attack we were a real threat, and the movement from the front three was electrifying at times.
"We managed the game really well and to keep a clean sheet and carry the threat we did was very pleasing."
