Everton boss Roberto Martinez insists Seamus Coleman can fulfil his ambitions at Goodison Park.

Coleman was linked with Manchester United over the weekend, which led to club legend Denis Irwin saying he needed to leave Everton to reach his potential.

Martinez snapped back in the Sunday World: "He is making a judgement about a player that is very important for us.

"He can progress and develop with us.

"The best player for him to fulfil his potential is here and he is already a world class performer if you look at his displays from last season."
