Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed the Merseysiders have made an approach for ChampionshipLeeds United defender Sam Byram.

Reports suggest the clubs are already in talks about the 22-year-old moving to Goodison Park, although Martinez has suggested there is still some work to do before a transfer can take place.

"There has been an approach. There is nothing else to comment on. You have to be careful," Martinez said. "From there to conclusive news is a long gap."
