Marseille rival West Ham for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon

Olympique Marseille have made a move for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon.

The Mirror says Marseille are rivalling West Ham in the battle to sign Rondon.

The French giants are now managed by Andre Villas-Boas who knows Rondon from their time together at Zenit St Petersburg and is a big fan of the in-demand centre forward.

Rondon, 29, had a hugely impressive season at Newcastle but his loan from West Brom has ended and, with the Toon Army in turmoil, he is now available.

West Ham are monitoring developments with uncertainty surrounding Marko Arnautovic's future as he has expressed a desire to leave after a Chinese club made a £19m offer.

Rondon had his best ever season playing under Manuel Pellegrini when they were together at Malaga, scoring 14 goals in La Liga and 16 in total.
