Olympique Marseille fullback Patrice Evra has paid tribute to former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney - with a cheeky dig.

Rooney, now with Everton in Tanzania, left United this week and Evra took to Instagram to post a tribute.

"I would like to thank you for all these years spent together. We won a lot of trophies together. You are a legend of Manchester United and I hope that all the fans will always remember you for that, not without a touch of humor," stated Evra.

"As a person, I am better than you because even your wife says that I make her laugh with my videos so I always await your thanks!"
