Colombia defender Mario Yepes hopes to stay in Europe this season.

The veteran defender is a free agent after leaving Atalanta and has turned down an offer from Argentina.

"I want to thank the Independiente owners and the fans, but I decided to say no," he told America & Closs.

"At this time, I want to give priority to my family. I will make any decision related to my children and their schooling.

"I rule out a return to South America."
