Former Napoli director of sport Pierpaolo Marino says his old club is planning a raid on Sampdoria.
Marino believes Napoli are chasing Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini and midfielder Angelo Palombo.
He said: "This deal is more than a whisper. De Laurentiis and Samp's director general Beppe Marotta have already spoken about it.
"Samp will be interested in signing Daniele Mannini on a permanent basis and Denis could also be inserted into this deal, as the Blucerchiati like him a lot.
"A robust amount of cash would have to be added for Palombo and Pazzini, but Napoli still have great room to maneuver on the market.
"If Palombo and Pazzini were to arrive then Napoli would need to change their formation. If Napoli really want to participate regularly in the Champions League, they will need top quality spare parts like the other teams have in that competition."
