AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas is pleased with the way he's kicked off his Serie A career.

Manolas arrived as a replacement for Mehdi Benatia, now of Bayern Munich.

"Benatia? He's a great player, but he is the past and I am the future," Manolas told Roma TV.

"I will work hard to replace him and help Roma have a great season. I want to give everything for the Giallorossi and I like that the players help each other out."
