Atletico Madrid midfielder Maniche is desperate to complete his move to Inter Milan later today.

"I can't wait to get started with Inter, one of the best clubs in the world where only great players can compete," he told Marca. "In Italy football is more physical and tactical than in Spain. Now I hope to win as much as possible with the Nerazzurri and remain there next season as well."

Luis Figo recommended Maniche to Inter coach Roberto Mancini and the midfielder added: "Luis knows me well and I am honoured by the kind things he said about me. He will help me to settle in to the squad."

Inter director Marco Tronchetti Provera said: "We had a series of injuries that made Maniche's arrival very useful.

"He is such an eclectic player that he can take on various different roles."
